Technology with Soul. SECJUR is a rapidly growing legal tech company that has been changing the compliance market significantly since its founding in 2018. Our self-developed and AI-powered SaaS automation platform, the Digital Compliance Office, supports Startups and SMEs with compliance challenges such as data protection, information security or anti-money laundering.
We are seeking a full-time, permanent (Senior) Accountant (all genders) to start as soon as possible, ideally based in Hamburg, Germany or remote.
Your creative field
• Independent preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (HGB) for our German legal entity (GmbH)
• Reconciliation of general ledger and sub-ledgers
• Creation and posting of accruals and provisions (e.g., personnel provisions, prepaid expenses)
• Fixed asset accounting incl. valuation, additions/disposals, depreciation, asset register
• Preparation of tax returns (VAT, corporate tax, trade tax) and reconciliation statements
• Calculation of deferred taxes and clarification of tax-related topics
• Planning and execution of fixed asset inventory incl. CAPEX controlling
• Point of contact for auditors and tax advisors
• Accounts payable and accounts receivable accounting (invoice processing, dunning, reconciliation of open items)
• Coordination of payroll with external payroll provider
• Support in payments and treasury (postings, account reconciliations, payment runs)
• Regulatory reporting (e.g. Bundesbank)
• Preparation of reports and statements related to balance sheet items and tax topics
• Coordination with Portuguese tax advisor for accounting topics concerning our Portuguese subsidiary
Your profile
• At least 2 years of experience in balance sheet accounting and 3 years of relevant professional experience in finance
• Completed degree in business or a comparable commercial qualification with additional certification (e.g. IHK Certified Balance Sheet Accountant)
• Solid knowledge of HGB and experience preparing tax returns
• Confident handling of fixed asset accounting and excellent Excel skills; experience with accounting and ERP systems (e.g. DATEV)
• Experience in group accounting / consolidation is a plus
• Practical experience transitioning bookkeeping from external tax advisors to in-house operations
• Analytical thinking, high affinity for numbers, structured, accurate, and solution-oriented working style
• Strong communication skills, team spirit, resilience, and reliability
• Fluent German and English skills
